COURT HOUSE – Center for Community Arts in Cape May receives $16,832 NJ State Council on the Arts General Operating Support Grant for 2014. Founded in 1995, Center for Community Arts is a multicultural education organization whose arts and humanities programs foster creativity, community building, and appreciation for the rich diversity of our world. This grant helps support all of the arts programs CCA offers throughout the year including:
Art at the Library (ages 6-10), taught by Paige Cunningham in Cape May, Lower Township, Wildwood Crest and Sea Isle and Janet McShain in Woodbine, Youth Arts Program (ages 10-14), taught by Janet Payne in Cape May and Amanda Tozer in Lower Township, Delores Cheney Youth Arts Fair each May and The Great Cookie Exchange in December. In the summer CCA offers three art camps for local children and visitors, YAP Summer Art Camp (ages 10-14), Kid’s Art Camp (ages 6-9) and Mini Art Camp (ages 3 ½ – 5) all located at the Cape May City Elementary School.CCA also sponsors Shore Slam, which is a monthly event open for anyone who has a 5-minute story to tell on the night’s theme or a 3-minute original poem to share.
