WEST CAPE MAY – Record-breaking attendance by a broad spectrum of supporters kicked off the CapeGOP 2016 fundraising year in style. The Annual Chairman’s Circle Dinner was held at Willow Creek Winery on Saturday evening, Feb. 6. The first major event hosted by new CapeGOP Chairman Marcus Karavan featured a tribute to NJ’s Freeholder of the Year, Cape May County Freeholder Director Jerry Thornton, and speeches from Congressman Frank Lobiondo and NJ Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno.
“We were overwhelmed by the turnout for this year’s Chairman’s Circle Dinner and regret having to turn some folks away,” Karavan said. “The generous outpouring of financial support for our organization will have the CapeGOP very well positioned to continue to grow and strengthen the Republican party in Cape May County. The success of this event will provide the foundation for the critical financial support needed to win elections at the local, county, state and federal level. I want to thank our steadfast supporters, who remain committed to our mission. Their contributions make these efforts possible.”
The ballot this year will feature several important local races, the 2016 presidential race and the reelection campaigns of Republican Congressman Frank Lobiondo and GOP Freeholders Jerry Thorton and Marie Hayes.
“With the departure of former Chairman Michael Donohue, the last few months have been an important period of transition for the CapeGOP,” Karavan explained. “Our organization has weathered those challenges, installing a new leadership team while remaining strongly united as we head into this critical 2016 election cycle. The great success of our signature annual fundraising event, The Chairman’s Circle Dinner, puts the seal of approval on our smooth transition to new leadership and confirms our unity and momentum going forward. We look forward to a great year in 2016.”
