COURT HOUSE — Greg Speed, CEO, Cape Counseling Services (CCS), presented Joanne Carrocino, FACHE, President & CEO at Cape Regional Medical Center and Deborah Baehser, RN, MSHA, Vice President of Patient Services, with a check in the amount of $25,000 to support the new Behavioral Health Unit in the Emergency Department at the Medical Center. The gift represents Cape Counseling’s first installment toward a $50,000 pledge. The new unit opened its doors during the first week of June, 2013.
“I would like to thank Dr. Domenic Coletta, Emergency Department Medical Director at Cape Regional Medical Center and Deborah Baehser, for their advocacy and commitment to improving psychiatric services for the residents of Cape May County,” stated Speed. “Individuals with a mental health and/or substance abuse disorder clearly deserve the best care possible, not only psychiatrically, but for their overall health. The Unit has clearly been a tremendous enhancement to the way crisis psychiatric services are provided.”
The Behavioral Health Unit consists of a five-bed area, four of which are separated by a partial wall and curtain; the remaining bay is a private room that, with a doctor’s order, can provide necessary seclusion and safety. There is nurses’ station, patient restroom and consultation room in the unit.
“In the spirit of true partnership, the CCS Board of Directors has pledged a donation of $50,000 to Cape Regional Medical Center to be paid over the course of the next two years. We believe that this level of financial commitment will demonstrate Cape Counseling’s commitment to serving our joint patients who are served in the Emergency Department at Cape Regional Medical Center,” added Speed. Cape Counseling Services is a private, not for profit Community Behavioral Health Care provider serving Cape May County with the mission to promote and provide superior behavioral healthcare in the community.
Cape Regional Medical Center is a member of the Penn Cancer Network and an affiliate of Penn Medicine for Cancer Care, Cardiac Care and Vascular Care.
