COURT HOUSE – Harold Delaney has been named Cape Regional Medical Center’s “Special Touch Volunteer” for the fourth quarter of 2014.
Harold lives in Cape May Court House and began his hospital volunteer service in November, 2011. To date, he has provided 850 hours of dedicated service as a busy Errand Volunteer and also in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.
“Harold was nominated by several volunteers who hail him as an all-around great guy who will do anything for others,” stated Julie Paolella, Director of Volunteer Services. “The staff and the patients at Cape Regional are so fortunate to have a volunteer like Harold Delaney. His dedication and positive attitude brightens the day for everyone with whom he comes into contact,” stated Kim Elliott, RN, BSN, Senior Cardiopulmonary Nurse.
When asked about being named Volunteer of the Quarter, Delaney stated, “After having had a good experience at Cape Regional as a patient, I decided to volunteer, and I love it here! I really like the volunteers and the staff.”
When not volunteering, Harold, a retired air traffic controller and six-year Air Force Veteran, enjoys lawn work, gardening and working on his collectible Wheel Horse garden tractors. He and his wife, Linda, have two sons and recently welcomed their first grandchild.
Harold was honored at a special presentation; during the presentation, Thomas Piratzky, Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing, Julie Paolella, Director of Volunteer Services, Harold’s wife, Linda Delaney and many fellow volunteers presented him with the Volunteer of the Quarter Award as well as a boutonniere, Special Touch Volunteer pin, gift card and commemorative plaque.
