Cape Regional Laboratory Receives Accreditation

COURT HOUSE – Cape Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that the Medical Center’s Laboratory has been awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
“The Laboratory’s Medical Director, Lawrence A. Virgilio, M.D., was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided,” stated the press release issued by the College of American Pathologists. “Cape Regional Medical Center Laboratory is one of more than 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide,” the release continued.
“The team of professionals in the Cape Regional Medical Center Laboratory strives to provide the highest quality of care and attention to detail to each and every test performed,” stated Barbara Moore, Director of Laboratory and Pathology Medicine. “We are very proud of this achievement, and I want to personally thank each member of our staff for their dedication to the patients in the Cape May County community.”
During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examined the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examined Laboratory staff qualifications, as well as the Laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and records, in addition to the overall management of the Laboratory. This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for all Laboratory patients.
Cape Regional Medical Center is an affiliate of the Penn Medicine Health System (University of Pennsylvania) for Cancer Care and Cardiac Care, accredited by The Joint Commission with its Gold Seal of Approval and an Accredited Chest Pain Center.
