Opening of the Jane Osborne Center for Women’s Health Announced
CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – On Thursday, May 5, Cape Regional Foundation donors were both celebrated and recognized at a special event in their honor. The festive reception was held at the Abbie Holmes Estate in Clermont where more than 125 attendees gathered.
“Thank you to many of the distinguished donors in attendance tonight as members of the Cape Regional Beacon Society, taking a leadership role in the Medical Center’s annual giving program, and to the Cape Regional Lighthouse Legacy Society, representing those who have included Cape Regional in their estate plans through a bequest, trust, life-income or other planned gift,” stated Thomas J. Piratzky, CFRE, Executive Director of Cape Regional Foundation. Piratzky thanked the attendees for several of the projects supported by members of the Lighthouse Legacy and Beacon Societies since 2001, including patient room renovations at the Medical Center, Intensive Care Unit renovations, purchase of the Varian TrueBeam Radiation Oncology technology, support of the Robert J. Sorenson, M.D., Continuing Education Endowment Fund (providing Health System team members the opportunity to attend continuing education courses and seminars) and support to the Cape Regional Parish Nurse Program that continually provides exceptional outreach to the community. In total, over $12 million in philanthropic support to Cape Regional has been realized for these projects.
Joanne Carrocino, President and CEO announced Cape Regional’s major gift of over $2 million from the Estate of Jane Osborne of North Wildwood. A long-time friend of Cape Regional and through her work with the Holly Beach Public Library Association in Wildwood as well as being a grateful patient, Jane often praised the great care she received during her treatments for breast cancer on three different occasions. Shortly after Jane’s passing in 2014 at the age of 89, Cape Regional was notified of her gift intention from her personal estate.
“In recognition of Jane Osborne and her tremendous support of Cape Regional, the Jane Osborne Center for Women’s Health is being constructed at Cape Regional Medical Commons (Rt. 9 in Cape May Court House),” stated Carrocino. The project is expected to be completed in June at which time a formal dedication will take place. The new Women’s Health Center will be the first in the area to offer state-of-the-art 3-D digital mammography, stereotactic biopsy, breast ultrasound, Dexascan (for bone density testing), physical exams as well as Nurse Navigator Services for personalized support. “I cannot think of a better way to recognize such a generous and dedicated friend of Cape Regional,” added Carrocino.
