COURT HOUSE — The Cape Regional Medical Center Auxiliary has announced its pledge of $1 million toward the renovation of the medical center’s Intensive Care Unit. The renovations are slated to begin in 2010, according to a release.
At the June Auxiliary board meeting, Maureen Corrigan, president of the Cape Regional Medical Center Auxiliary announced the pledge to Joanne Carrocino, president and CEO of Cape Regional and Tom Piratzky, executive director of the Medical Center Foundation.
“On behalf of the Cape Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, I am delighted to announce that we are pledging $1 Million in support of the ICU Renovation Project,” stated Corrigan. “Our goal is to pay off the pledge in ten years but we will work our best to pay if off sooner,” she added.
“The Auxiliary is one of the Medical Center’s biggest champions. The entire Medical Center family is extremely grateful to the Auxiliary for partnering with us to help make the Intensive Care Unit Renovation Project a reality with their generous pledge of $1 million,” stated Carrocino. “This renovation project will make our Intensive Care Unit state of the art for both our patients and healthcare providers,” Carrocino added.
The CRMC Auxiliary has a proud history.
In 1951, a group of women gathered together to raise funds that would help build the Medical Center.
To continue their financial support for expanded healthcare services, women and men in Cape May County joined together and formed the present Auxiliary.
The present day Auxiliary has four branches. Activities sponsored by the Auxiliary Board include operation of the Et Cetera Shop and the Medical Center Gift Shop.
All branches assist Board-sponsored fundraising projects as well as conduct additional projects of their own.
All monies raised by the Auxiliary are presented to the Medical Center for specific projects.
