Cape May Police Department Adds Twin Sisters as Full-Time Officers

Kara & Kourtney

By Press Release

CAPE MAY – The Cape May Police Department recently hired twin sisters Kara and Kourtney Brussell as full-time officers. Kourtney and Kara have worked for the department since 2013 when they graduated from the Class II Academy in Cape May County. They will attend the Basic Police Officer Academy in late January.
The Brussell sisters each completed the Cape May Police Department Field Training Program in September 2015 and since then have been working as squad officers on various shifts to substitute for full-time officers. Once they graduate from the Basic Police Officer Academy, Cape May will have three shifts with a female officer on duty, allowing the department to handle interactions with both genders in all situations.
Kara and Kourtney grew up in Honesdale, Pa. on their family’s dairy farm. They each earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Kutztown University. Kara also earned a master’s degree in counseling in educational settings from Rowan University. Kara resides in North Cape May and Kourtney in Cape May Court House.
