OCEAN CITY – Several Cape May County, New Jersey Postmasters attended the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce’s 12th Annual Women in Business Expo on March 2, 2017. “Once I received the emailed invite from the chamber, I knew that we had to participate and that we could successfully represent our individual post offices and the organization in which we serve,” said Bernadette Puodziunas, Postmaster of the Wildwood Post Office. Bernadette was one of the five female Postmasters from the county that attended the expo. Her invite was met with great enthusiasm as the other Postmasters saw the added value with their participation. Margaret Clifford, Cape May Postmaster, Cheryl Foster, Sea Isle City Postmaster, Cindy Yesgosh, Cape May Court House Postmaster and Melissa Lomax, Avalon Postmaster made it a point to attend the event together.
The largest Women in Business Expo yet, this year’s theme focused on “Women Empowered and Engaged.” The expo was hosted at the historic Flanders Hotel in Ocean City.
For almost seven years, the Cape May County Postmasters have been proud members of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce. Their partnership has enabled the Postmasters and their respective post offices to continue their efforts in networking with potential customers in attracting Business Connects, all the while partnering in planning educational and informational postal events for the local communities they serve. The Postmasters enjoyed listening to the wide array of successful, professional women who held careers as doctor, volunteer advocate, surrogate and Lieutenant Governor. All of these women shared their inspiring stories on education, family, employees, work/life balance and the variety of opportunities that led them to their specific careers. The Postmasters networked with a room of almost 200 professionals, all who were thoroughly engaged in the topics at hand. The event concluded with a luncheon, while the guest speaker – New Jersey’s Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno – addressed the attendees with her own success story of work/life balance.
At the conclusion of the expo, the Postmasters met up with the chamber’s President, Vicki Clark, and thanked her and the entire chamber for another “engaging and empowering” event. “Our Postmasters and employees are extremely involved with their communities and the customers we serve,” added Melissa Lomax, Avalon Postmaster. “It’s events like these, brought to us by such a highly motivated chamber of commerce, that fosters positive and enriching growth for our local businesses and working professionals. We are truly fortunate to be living and working here in Cape May County within our roles as Postmasters of our communities,” concluded Lomax.
