Cape May County Chamber Annual Dinner Awards Presented

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce proudly presented their Excellence awards at the 71st Annual Dinner and Installation Meeting held at Cape May Convention Hall on Oct. 15, 2015. The 2015 Excellence Awards are as follows: South Jersey Energy Solutions, Member of the Year; Judy LaPorta of Little Oaks Campground and Tom Rippman of Cartridge World of Rio Grande, Volunteer of the Year; Strategic Planning Committee, Committee of the Year; Christina Tolson of Omega High-Impact Print Solutions and Cory Hanahan of ServPro of Cape May and Cumberland Counties, Young Professional Award; Social Vine, New Member of the Year; Montreal Beach Resort, Service Excellence Award; Diane Leonik, Visionary Award; and Hank Sauce, New Business Venture Award. The Cape May County Betterment Award was presented to Tom Brodesser of Beachcomber Resort Campground for his generosity to many organizations in Cape May County, and specifically Cape Regional Medical Center.
The 49th Annual Beautification Award went to the City of Sea Isle City for their newly constructed Municipal Hall located on John F Kennedy Blvd. Each year, the Conservation Award Nominees are selected by the chamber’s membership and voted on by the Environment & Legislative Committee. This year, Executive Director Joseph Rizzuto accepted the 23rd Annual Conservation Award on behalf of the Cape May County Municipal Utility Authority for their Water Conservation and Ground Water Recharge program, and Stone Harbor Mayor Suzanne Walters accepted a Conservation Award for the Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary Gardens. The Conservations Awards were sponsored by Hatch Mott MacDonald, The Lomax Consulting Group and Rutala & Associates, LLC.
The Golden Whelk Tourism Award is presented to a business or organization that represents excellence in tourism by stimulating new growth in Cape May County’s tourism industry. The 2015 Golden Whelk Tourism Award was presented to the Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation (CMCCGCF) and accepted by Executive Director Nina Ranalli for the Inaugural Coast Guard Community Festival. The Inaugural Coast Guard Community Festival, hosted by The CMCCGCF, celebrated the designation of Cape May County as a Coast Guard Community – one of only two in the country. This Inaugural festival laid the groundwork for an annual shoulder season event that will bring visitors from around the country in May each year.
