Cape May City Police Department Presents Macedonia Baptist Church of Cape May with Check

CMPD

By Press Release

On Sunday, July 31, 2016, Members of the Cape May City Police Department along with the President Michael Szemcsak of PBA Local No. 59 attended church services and the 124 anniversary celebration at the Macedonia Baptist Church of Cape May. During this service, PBA state delegate, Ptlm. Kristopher Mazza (CMPD) presented Pastor Kathy Smallwood and the members of her congregation a check for $1,000; this donation was in support of Macedonia Baptist Churches “Technology for College” program. Also in attendance during Sunday’s services was Cape May City Mayor, Dr. Edward J. Mahaney, Jr.
This program, as explained by Pastor Smallwood, is “Specifically centered on our youth and is a part of our growing partnership between the church and our law enforcement family.” Pastor Smallwood announced that these funds along with other generous donations received would be used to purchase laptop computers for three of the churches students attending college this fall semester. Pastor Smallwood noted that the students attending college were required to show acceptance and enrollment to a college of their choice.
Over the years, the Cape May Police Department and the Macedonia Baptist Church have been a part of an ongoing partnership to demonstrate and exemplify a positive image between our youth, church and law enforcement. This effort is meant to strengthen an already close bond between the church and our community. Showing that with continued unity and support we will all succeed, “Breathing life into our children as well as our communities.”
It should also be noted that during this summers “Vacation Bible School” at the Macedonia Baptist Church, Officers from the Cape May City Police Department attended and met daily with the students. These visits were both enlightening for the students as well as the officers who shared stories and listened to the children as they asked so many positive questions and shared life stories.
Anyone wishing to donate or support the Macedonia Baptist Churches “Technology for College” program can do so by either contacting them online at www.macedoniabaptistchurchcapemay.com or liking them on Facebook.
