CAPE MAY COUNTY — As Memorial Day approaches, soon towns that require tags will have inspectors check beachgoers before accessing the shore.
The following is a list of local prices and information on purchasing beach tags in many towns throughout the county this season. Beach tags can be purchased for the season, the week, or the day. Many municipalities offer discounts for early purchase.
Cape May:
Beach tags are available for purchase at City Hall in person from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday excluding holidays.
The in-person per tag costs for a seasonal tag is as follows:
• $15 through March 31
• $25 beginning April 1
• $10 Three-Day
• $13 Weekly
• $5 Daily
A maximum of five seasonal tags, per season, per individual, can be purchased.
Up to five seasonal tags, per season, per individual, can also be ordered by mail.
The mail order per-tag cost for a seasonal tag is as follows:
• $15.75 thru March 31
• $25.75 beginning April 1

Tags, once purchased, are not refundable. No exceptions to the dates and timeframes shown above can be considered.
Stone Harbor:
All persons 12 and over must display tags Friday of Memorial Weekend to Monday of Labor Day Weekend, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• $19 Seasonal tags (Before May 31)
• $24 Seasonal tags (beginning June 1)
• $12 Weekly tags (Saturday through Sunday)
• $6 Daily tags
Seasonal, weekly and daily tags may be purchased from inspectors on the beach or from the Beach Tag Office during the summer season. To purchase tags by mail, send check with name and address and the number of tags desired.

Avalon:
Avalon requires that beach tags be worn by all using the beach, aged 12 and older from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 1 through Sept. 1. Pre-season beach tags may be purchased weekends beginning March 22 at the Beach Tag Booth at Community Hall at 30th Street.
Other beach tags may be purchased daily April 28 through Sept. 1 at the booth on or beginning June 1 from beach tag inspectors on the beach.
Beach tag fees are:
• $19 Preseason tag (purchase on or before May 31)
• $24 Seasonal Tags (effective June 1)
• $12 weekly (Saturday through Saturday)
• $6 daily
Reciprocity of beach tags is observed between Avalon and Stone Harbor.
Ocean City:
Seasonal tags are available for purchase in the pre-season, before Memorial Day, at a discounted rate. Pre-season purchases can be made on-line at www.ocnj.us
Tags can also be purchased at either City Hall (9th Street and Asbury Avenue), 46th Street Post Office (on West Avenue) or the Information Center at the Music Pier (on the Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace). Some locations have limited hours during the pre-season. City Hall is open Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.
During the summer season, seasonal, weekly and daily passes can be purchased at the three locations above and from tag checkers who work on the beach.
Beach tag fees are:
• $5 Daily
• $10 Weekly
• $20 Seasonal ($15 Pre-season)
Children 11-years-old and under are free.
Pre-season tags are currently available at City Hall, the Aquatic & Fitness Center at 18th and Haven Avenue and the Knight Building at 11th and Haven Avenue. Sales will begin at the Music Pier on weekends beginning Saturday April 4th. Beach badges must be worn from June 13 through September 7th.
Sea Isle City:
Beach tags are available at the Beach Tag Office at 125 JFK Blvd. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (609) 263-1771 Tags can also be purchased by inspectors on the beach. The office is closed on Wednesdays. The beach is free on Wednesdays, except holidays.
Beach tag fees are:
• $5 Daily
• $10 Weekly (Sat. through Sun.)
• $20 Seasonal ($15 before May 15)
