BURLEIGH — The 12th annual Burke Motor Group Golf Classic will take place Sept 14, at Wildwood Golf and Country Club here.
This year’s event will benefit the Mid Jersey Cape Rotary Club, an organization made up of local business professionals dedicated to serving the needs of the community.
Over the past 11 years the golf classic has raised over $350,000, and the proceeds were utilized for a myriad of projects.
Highlights of past accomplishments include funding a state-of-the art playground located at the Middle Township’s Davies Sports Complex, provided well over a hundred college scholarships to local students, supported Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County with an $18,000 donation to establish their pharmacy office suite, and helped those in the South affected by Hurricane Katrina with a hand-delivered contribution of $10,000.
All of those were made possible through the generosity of local businesses, sponsors, and tournament participants.
The Burke Motor Group Golf Classic has been recognized by the New Jersey State Assembly for its dedication to the community, and for over a decade, this golf classic has set the standard for excellence in golf tournaments, according to a release from Francey K. Burke, tournament director and past president Mid Jersey Cape Rotary Club.
The community’s support of the event is being sought for sponsorship, tournament participation, donations of premium items such as golf foursomes, dinner or retail gift certificates, tickets to sporting events, or other merchandise that can be utilized for our silent auction.
Levels of sponsorship are listed on the enclosed tournament form.
Contributions will be recognized at the tournament, which has been a sell-out since it was founded.
Those interested in participating should call Burke at 609-463-5757.
