CAPE MAY – Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum received a financial donation from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6964, located in Brigantine to help support and expand the museum’s education and general programming.
“We’re more than happy to support an organization that promotes military education,” noted Post Commander Ralph Laltrella.
The museum will use the funds to further develop the two unique educational summer academies. Previously, the museum was able to provide two full and four partial scholarships to participating students thanks to financial contributions.
Additionally, funds will support community outreach programs to home school, scouting, underprivileged youth groups and the museum’s free Historic Lecture Series. It is through the generous support of donors that NASW is able to advance and serve an extensive audience.
The Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum is located in Historic Hangar #1 at the Cape May Airport, New Jersey. Cape May Airport was formerly Naval Air Station Wildwood, which served as a World War II dive-bomber training center. The museum is dedicated to the 42 airmen who perished while training at Naval Air Station Wildwood between 1943 and 1945.
