WILDWOOD – The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America provide an educational program that builds character, confidence and teaches the responsibilities of citizenship. For seventeen years, Morey’s Piers has been proud to support the mission and goals of these organizations by providing them an extraordinary opportunity to participate in unique scouting adventures.
On May 20-22, Morey’s Piers will host their Spring Beach Jam for Girl and Boy Scouts. Beach Jam allows scouts and their families to enjoy camping on the Wildwood beach along with live entertainment, a beach bonfire and the attractions on Morey’s Piers. This year, the events team has added a sand castle building contest to the fun roster.
On Saturday, June 4, Cub Scouts, Brownies, and Daisies are invited for Beach Bop, a one day event designed for the youngest scouts and their families. Participants receive a commemorative Beach Bop patch and, this year, troops will enjoy a live DJ dance partyin addition to the rides and attractions.
Girl Scouts of Southern and Central New Jersey are also coming back to Morey’s Piers for the third year on Sunday, June 12, to enjoy the rides and waterpark, a DJ Dance Party, patches and a beach BBQ.
“Scouts from all over the Northeast enjoy these events, which combine scout spirit and Boardwalk fun in a truly unique setting,” said Kristel Jenkins, Events and Entertainment Manager.
In the spirit of scouting, participants are asked to contribute non perishable food items to the United Way Food Bank to help support this worthwhile community service. Last year, scouts collected over 1 ton of food for the Food Bank. Drop off points will be located at the Schellenger and the Boardwalk under the orange tent and at Event Services located to the left of the Giant Wheel.
Morey’s Piers hosts several youth events in the Wildwoods during the spring and fall shoulder seasons including Beach Scouting, Beach Lacrosse, Beach Soccer, Dance Expo, A Closer Walk Christian Youth Event, and new this year, the Wild Half – a half marathon. Beyond event registration revenues, the Beach Scouting events generate an additional $1,000,000 into the surrounding business community.
