Barbara Vaughn of Phoenixville, Pa. is the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) Volunteer of the Month for August 2017. Barbara has generously hosted any MAC retail personnel who attend the Oaks Gift Show and Market Square in Oaks, Pa., just outside of Philadelphia, which is held four times a year. She provides breakfasts and even dinners to her overnight guests from Cape May.
MAC Director of Retail Operations Emily McLaughlin nominated Barbara for this honor. “Barbara is both a gracious host and a great friend to MAC. Every year she has opened her home to our retail staff, reducing our costs by more than half to attend these large gift shows. We are so grateful for her warm hospitality and for her generosity, since we at MAC are forever looking for ways to save on expenses. This is just one way we lower our administrative costs so that we can put the vast majority of our earned revenues toward the expenses that advance our historic preservation mission and programs.”
The Volunteer of the Month award is given to persons who demonstrate a high degree of dedication, commitment and constancy to MAC’s volunteer program.
