COURT HOUSE – Barbara Cain has been named Cape Regional Medical Center’s “Special Touch Volunteer” for the first quarter of 2015.
Barbara began her hospital volunteer service in February, 2003; to date, she has diligently contributed more than 3,500 hours of service as a Patient Feeding Assistance Volunteer and Clerical Volunteer in the Volunteer Services Office. “Volunteering provides a lot of personal satisfaction by meeting and helping people. I really enjoy it,” stated Ms. Cain. Her peer volunteers note that she is always a joy to work with and she is positive and extremely hardworking. “Barbara provides vital assistance to the hospital and is always willing to lend a hand as needed,” stated Julie Paolella, Director of Volunteer Services.
This busy volunteer also serves as Secretary at Bayshore Woods Condominium Association, sings in the Angelus Chorus and is an active member at Cold Spring Presbyterian Church in Cold Spring, NJ. One of Barbara’s all-time loves is to visit with her friends in Mt. Laurel for their monthly card game – a 56 year tradition that she really looks forward to each month.
During the award presentation, Thomas Piratzky, Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing and Julie Paolella, Director of Volunteer Services, joined with Barbara’s fellow volunteers in honoring her with the Volunteer of the Quarter Award. Barbara was presented with flowers, a Special Touch Volunteer pin, gift card and commemorative plaque.
Barbara lives in North Cape May with her husband and high school sweetheart, Elmer, and puppy, Missy. The couple, who have been married for 60 years, has been blessed with four children, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
