L to R: Kelly

For Kelly, Amanda and Katie Fagan, owning a boutique has been their dream for many, many years. Finally, that dream will become a reality this Easter weekend as their new store, water lily boutique, opens in Avalon.
The sisters graduated from Middle Township High School and spent their summers on the beaches of Avalon since their grandparents lived on 25th Street. Naturally, owning a boutique down the street from where they spent their summers was part of the dream, and now it’s a dream come true.
The three sisters have many years of experience in retail, which inspired the opening of their own retail shop. Kelly, 28, started working as a stock girl at Global Pursuit in Stone Harbor at just 14. After graduating with a degree in marketing, she moved to North Jersey in hopes of becoming a fashion buyer, but eventually moved back home to the beach. After working at Global Pursuit for many years, the owners asked her to run their new store in Stone Harbor, Life is Good. Amanda, 25, started out as a counter girl at Green Cuisine when she was 14 and a few years later joined Kelly at Global Pursuit. She worked there for a year and then moved to Life is Good with Kelly. Amanda has recently moved to Tampa, Fla. and is working as an accountant, but she is still very involved in water lily boutique by working from afar and visiting often. Katie, 19, joined her sisters at Life is Good when she was 14 and learned much of what she knows from them. She is currently taking online classes so she is able to be at water lily boutique as much as possible.
Working together at Global Pursuit and Life is Good was a great advantage in fulfilling the sisters’ dream to own their own boutique, teaching them all about retail and how to run a store. Katie also had the opportunity to work at Bellissima last summer, the store that used to be in water lily boutique’s location. The owner of Bellissima became a mentor to Katie and has been a tremendous help in the opening of water lily boutique.
Katie adds, “Water lily boutique was started because of the unconditional love and support of our amazing parents who have made our dream of opening a boutique possible. Water lily boutique has definitely come from all of the love and support of our parents, and the work ethic they have instilled in us from a young age. We are more than grateful for all the help, love and support from our family, friends and the town!”
Water lily boutique offers women’s apparel, accessories and home goods. Some of the brands the store carries include Kate Spade, Hobo Bags, Blank NYC jeans, Ipanema sandals, La Blanca and PilyQ swim, Echo New York, Donni Charm scarves, Quay Australia sunglasses, Kai fragrances, Illume candles and greeting cards, and Eberjey sleepwear. Along with all of these, water lily boutique also has beautiful handmade signs and few pieces of jewelry made by different local artists.
On Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27, water lily boutique will offer giveaways and $20 off of your next purchase with your purchase of $100 or more in celebration of their grand opening. You can find water lily boutique at 2513 Dune Dr., Avalon.
