Avalon Lions Roar into Spring

L to R: Mike Sowers

By Press Release

The month of March came in like a lion and stayed that way as spring 2016 began with a long list of accomplishments and things still to do for the 150+ members of the Avalon Lions Club.
On March 17, besides celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day with the wearing of the green, the Lions held their monthly meeting and dinner at the Avalon Links Restaurant (paid for by the members themselves) for a wee bit of donating the green to another Cape May County worthy cause.
This time a check for $4,000 dollars was given to CARA, Coalition Against Rape and Abuse. The organization provides crisis intervention, counseling services and legal advice for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, as well as finds them safe living arrangements .
CARA is one of more than a dozen charities that the Avalon Lions Club helps support thanks to the generous donations of our neighbors in Cape May County. All of the various organizations are located in Cape May County and serve county residents and visitors alike. The Lions raise and donate more than $120,000 a year and is one of the largest 501 (c ) 3 charitable corporations in New Jersey.
