The Avalon Lions Club turned March Madness into March Gladness with a $3,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity in Cape May County. During the monthly meeting of the club, Habitat Executive Director Shawn Lockyear and Director Chip French presented an update on the accomplishments and goals of the program that builds and rehabs homes for deserving families.
Habitat is getting ready to open ReStore, a donation center, sales operation and building supply store, scheduled to open this May next to the Big Lots in the Courthouse Village Center. The new store will join 900 similar Habitat outlets nationwide.
The Avalon Lions Club helps support more than a dozen charities in Cape May County including Family Promise, Holy Redeemer Food Bank, CARA, CASA, Toys for Tots and the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children. Avalon is the largest Lions Club in New Jersey with 150 members and is a 501(c)3 tax deductible charity.
