At their March meeting, the Avalon Lions presented two checks to Cape May County area charities totaling $22,000. A $16,000 donation was made to Holy Redeemer Food Pantry, and a $6,000 donation was made to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Atlantic and Cape May Counties. Both organizations support families and children in crisis.
Holy Redeemer provides food for hundreds of families throughout the year, and several Lions members also volunteer at the Food Bank.
More than a thousand children in Atlantic and Cape May counties are in need of a family. CASA volunteers represent children in court proceedings and help find them adoptive parents. Many of the children are three years old and younger.
The Avalon Lions Club supports more than a dozen charities in Cape May County including the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home For Blind Children, Family Promise, Lazarus House, Volunteers in Medicine, Cape Counseling and Toys for Tots.
