If one donation to a worthy cause is a great idea, then what can you say about two… on the same night. That is what happened when the Avalon Lions Club hosted representatives of two Cape May County organizations for check presentations. Both the Coalition Against Rape and Abuse (CARA) and Cape Assist received funding for much needed programs that help families and individuals in crisis.
CARA Acting Executive Director Claire Galiano explained during the Lions’ monthly dinner that the $4,000 dollar donation would help counsel families and children about the prevention of computer abuse that can lead to cyber bullying and sexual exploitation.
Cape Assist Executive Director Katie Faldetta said the funding will help in their ongoing efforts to address the problems of drug and alcohol addiction. Both organizations are increasing their effectiveness by pooling resources with other Cape May County programs to help their funding go further.
The Avalon Lions is the largest club in New Jersey. Its foundation is a tax exempt 501(c)3 charity that supports more than a dozen organizations in Cape May County including: Holy Redeemer Food Bank, Lazarus House, Family Promise, Habitat For Humanity and the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children.
