AtlantiCare held a private reception on Wednesday, Dec. 13 to thank the artists featured in a new permanent Healing Arts exhibit at the AtlantiCare Cancer Care Institute, a Fox Chase Cancer Center Partner at the institute’s Egg Harbor Township location. The artists, all cancer survivors, participated in a Healing Arts Workshop in August. Artists met weekly for four weeks with Cheryl Broschard, Development and Cultural Projects manager, AtlantiCare Foundation, and Dorrie Papademetriou of Linwood, founder and designer, MudGirls Studios.
The artists are Deborah Aker of Galloway; Ann Arena of Absecon; Rosemary Flammer of Galloway; Jane Flanagan of Galloway; Rebecca Morrison of Galloway; and Linda Smolinski of Mays Landing.
The works, which are embossed on tin, are based loosely on Milagros which is a folk art of Mexico.
