More than 700 people attended AtlantiCare’s 58th Annual Century Club Gala at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa April 8, during which AtlantiCare, a member of Geisinger Health System, recognized the Glenn family and Alan Simpson, M.D., FACR, with Edward R. Knight Community and Physician Awards.
Proceeds from the Gala benefit AtlantiCare’s clinical and community programs and services, including the Heart Institute and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Mainland Campus, and AtlantiCare’s Healing Arts Program.
“On behalf of the entire AtlantiCare team, our patients, and the families we serve, we’re delighted you’re here,” said AtlantiCare President and CEO Lori Herndon while addressing Gala guests. “Tonight’s Gala is one of two major fundraising initiatives to help support our community programs and services. We thank you for your commitment to AtlantiCare, always.”
“At Geisinger, everything we do is about caring, and I think that you can agree that our passion for caring is evident in the programs and services that are being supported this evening,” said David Feinberg, M.D., president and CEO, Geisinger Health System. “In addition to the local leadership, I’d like to offer my thanks to all of you on behalf of the entire Geisinger Health System for supporting AtlantiCare’s commitment to this community.”
“The Edward R. Knight Award winners are valiant supporters of AtlantiCare’s work to build healthy communities,” said Michael Charlton, chairman of the AtlantiCare System Board of Trustees. “The significant impacts that the Glenn family, and Dr. Simpson, have on those they serve, closely align with AtlantiCare’s vision of building healthy communities,” Charlton added.
Award recipients were each honored in special videos highlighting their contributions to the community.
Simpson was an early adopter of AtlantiCare’s population health strategies and has worked with his fellow physicians to identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary and/or duplicative studies. His efforts have led to a reduction in healthcare costs, and improvements in care quality and patient safety.
The Glenns have had leadership roles while working with many local organizations over the last several decades. The family also encourages their entire workforce at their family-owned company, Glenn Insurance, to make a difference in the communities they serve. The Glenn family has made a tremendous positive impact on the communities it and AtlantiCare serve through decades of service, leadership, and generosity.
Pacifico Agnellini, Esq., chairman of the AtlantiCare Foundation Board of Trustees, offered thanks to donors and gala attendees for their continued support. “For 40 years, the AtlantiCare Foundation has been working with generous individuals and groups in our community to advance AtlantiCare’s clinical and community efforts,” said Agnellini. “Many of you have been part of our efforts over the years. This milestone gives us the opportunity to say thank you for all that you’ve contributed.”
AtlantiCare also acknowledged the dedication and contributions of the Gala committee and chairpersons, including Jake Perskie, Esq. and Johanna Perskie, of Margate; and Brian Isaacson, M.D., associate chairman of Psychiatry, AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, and his wife, Anne Pratt-Isaacson, office coordinator, Supply Chain, AtlantiCare, of Galloway.
Guests entered the “Moulin Rouge”-themed event below a replica of the famous Moulin Rouge windmill. Moulin Rouge-themed decorations filled the reception area and ballroom; and deep red roses with gold accents and black ostrich feathers were featured in the centerpieces. Guests posed at the selfie station with fans, berets, and faux mustaches.
The Century Club Gala is one of AtlantiCare’s major fundraising efforts each year. Proceeds of the gala will advance the clinical and community programs the AtlantiCare Foundation supports in its efforts to provide our region the Next Generation of Care.
