MAYS LANDING – Atlantic City Electric (ACE) recognized approximately 100 employees during its recent Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast held at the Buena Vista Country Club. The annual event honors company employees who make a difference in their respective communities through volunteerism. Julie Reed and Ron Mascola were named the Atlantic City Electric 2016 Volunteers of the Year.
“Our commitment to the community is very important to us,” said Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric region president. “We are thrilled so many of our employees participate in events and volunteer initiatives each year to support numerous organizations in the communities we live and work.”
Julie Reed, a senior business analyst and 20-year ACE employee, participates in numerous volunteer events and initiatives in her community. “It’s most rewarding knowing I can make a positive impact in someone’s life through volunteerism. Sometimes it’s the little things that have the greatest effect on others,” said Reed. She dedicates countless hours as an assistant coach, treasurer and concession director of the Smyrna-Clayton youth football, baseball and cheerleading leagues. Reed plans volunteer events throughout the year to bring attention to childhood cancer, breast cancer awareness as well as recognizing military personnel at youth football games. She is also an associate member of Clayton Fire Company No.1, assisting with fundraising events for the brave men and women who risk their lives to keep our communities safe.
Fifteen-year ACE employee and senior field engineering technician Ron Mascola dedicates most of his free time as president of the Hammonton Fire Company No. 1. In addition to fire company volunteer events, Mascola volunteers at company sponsored events including the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk and the Special Olympics Beach Bump event. Mascola also supports the Hammonton Cancer Society along with his wife Joan who is a member of this organization. “Volunteerism is important to me. I have always had the desire to help and assist others. I would encourage anyone thinking about volunteering to be part of the action and get involved,” said Mascola.
Also recognized were the Atlantic City Electric linemen that operate the company’s Safety Trailer that is used throughout the community to educate students, first responders and emergency personnel about electrical safety.
Atlantic City Electric encourages employee participation in community volunteer activities. Each year, hundreds of ACE employees donate thousands of hours of their personal time to help support local organizations, community events and volunteer initiatives.
