Atlantic Cape Offers Business-Focused Social Media Workshops

MAYS LANDING – Atlantic Cape Community College will offer six social media workshops specifically targeting business professionals at the Mays Landing Campus in Building T on select dates throughout the fall semester.
All courses will be led by Susan Adelizzi-Schmidt, President of Suasion Communications Group, an award-winning agency located in Somers Point, NJ.
“Understanding social media and its role in your business is no longer an option; it is a necessity. We are delighted that Susan has agreed to return to Atlantic Cape for six additional workshops and to continue sharing her practical knowledge as a marketing professional and successful business owner with our students in preparing them to reach their personal and professional goals,” Esther Gandica, Atlantic Cape Senior Manager of Continuing Education.
The following are the social media courses offered:
New! Facebook for Small Business
Oct. 8 – PDEV-136 (3 Hours)
This course will cover all the ins and outs of building a compelling presence for a business on Facebook – setting up a business page, engaging your customers, creating ads and more. Students will learn how the No. 1 social network can truly benefit a business.

Learn how to use social media to engage with your customers and market your business while gaining
a better understanding of which social media tools your potential customers favor. The session will cover social media tools, tactics, content, planning and strategy for businesses.

Social media presents a powerful opportunity to build a brand. This session will cover branding, developing a USP, marketing tips and the best techniques to develop content. Learn how to use social media to engage your current customers and attract new ones.

Social Media has become more diversified than ever, and keeping pace with it can be a full-time job. This session will explore and cover the best practices for three dynamic social networking platforms. The session will cover Pinterest, blogging
and tweeting as a means to market, network and showcase your business.

Travel websites and social media can mean big business, or be the bane of a company’s existence. One bad review can undo years of positive brand equity and result in countless lost customers. So how does one manage these sites while building a brand? This session will cover best practices in managing reviews, engaging your current customers and attracting new ones.

Wednesday, December 3 – PDEV-126 (3 Hours)
This seminar will demonstrate how agents can widen their pool of prospects while building their brands and community relationships. This session will cover social media tools, tactics, content, planning and strategy, with a focus on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln, lnstagram and YouTube. Participants will not need to have accounts set up on the social sites to benefit.
Susan started her career as a radio news reporter and then joined Atlantic City, NJ’s WMGM-TV 40, as a reporter and anchor. She served as Public Relations Manager at Showboat Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ and as Marketing Director for the Great American Trolley Company, Cape May, NJ. In 2004, she joined Smith O’Keefe and Associates of Egg Harbor Township, NJ and bought the firm in 2007, which she rebranded as Suasion Communications Group. An award winning boutique agency, Suasion specializes in branding, public relations, digital marketing and creative design.
Suasion is the winner of two 2013 Ragan’s PR Daily Awards (Best Branding Agency and Best Green Initiative); 2011, 2010 & 2009 NJ Governor’s Awards for Tourism Excellence; a 2011 HSMAI Silver Adrian Award; and a 2009 HSMAI Bronze Adrian Award.
Susan is an adjunct professor at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and has been selected for Stockton’s School of Graduate & Continuing Studies 2014 Professional Achievement Award. She has also served as Assistant Director of the New Jersey Small Business Development Center of Cape, Atlantic & Cumberland Counties. Susan completed her MBA degree at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in Pomona, NJ and earned a dual BA degree in Communications and English from Arcadia University in Glenside, PA.
