Atlantic Cape Honors Six Recipients With President’s Distinguished Alumni Awards

MAYS LANDING – Atlantic Cape Community College will confer the eighth annual President’s Distinguished Alumni Award to six recipients, at the 50th annual commencement, May 18. The Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation honored past and present recipients of this award at Careme’s Restaurant at the Academy of Culinary Arts on May 4.
Established in 2010, The President’s Distinguished Alumni Award has been presented annually to graduates of Atlantic Cape that have differentiated themselves through professional, public or community-based accomplishments. The 2017 honorees and the eight past honorees truly represent Atlantic Cape’s mission and serve as exemplary role models for our current and future students.
Distinguished alumni recipients, along with their family members, enjoyed a three-course meal prepared by the culinary students of the Academy of Culinary Arts and were presented with the President’s Distinguished Alumni award medallions and certificates of appreciation May 4. They will be formally recognized at commencement May 18.
In honor of the college’s 50th anniversary, six recipients were selected for the 2017 award, one representative from each decade. The 2017 recipients are: Robert L. Vogel, ’68 of Savannah, Georgia; Dr. Brian Kirchner, ’78 of Absecon; MaryAnne Figueroa, ’88 of Hammonton; Academy of Culinary Arts Chef Educator Joseph Sheridan, ’96 of Somers Point; Dr. Carole Dieterly, ’08 of Breinigsville, Pennsylvania; and Kimberly Richardson, ’10 of Mays Landing.
Past recipients include: Gloryvie Reyes, a senior probation officer; Stephen Dunn, science researcher; Terri Schieder, a health care executive; Thomas Innocente, retired professor and law enforcement officer; Dr. Valerie Travis-Reese, a New Jersey licensed professional counselor, Atlantic City Attorney Katherine Morris; Linwood Attorney Michael R. Rann; and Janice Fipp, former superintendent of Northfield Community School.
