Atlantic Cape Honors Matthew Moeller of Avalon with President’s Distinguished Foundation Board Member Award

MAYS LANDING – Atlantic Cape Community College conferred the sixth President’s Distinguished Foundation Board Member Award to Matthew Moeller of Avalon at the college’s 49th annual commencement, May 19.
Moeller joined the board in 2003, and has never missed a board meeting, Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala or Scramble Fore Scholarships Golf Tournament. He also has supported all the Foundation’s fundraising efforts and made significant contributions of his time and talent to the Create Opportunity Capital Campaign. Moeller has a passion for ensuring access to education and a concern for people less fortunate than himself, which inspired his support of the college and Atlantic Cape students. Matt and his wife, Lydia, established an endowed scholarship for nursing students, and donated to the STEM building initiative by securing a naming opportunity and creating the Moeller Family Learning Lobby.
In addition to his efforts on the Foundation Board, Moeller also served as a senior adjunct instructor at Atlantic Cape for 15 years, teaching real estate courses.

Matt truly believes in the work of the Foundation, which supports Atlantic Cape and its students. He was a driving force in the Create Opportunity Campaign, serving on the Campaign Cabinet and continues to inspire others to support Atlantic Cape,” said Jean McAlister, executive director of the Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation.
The award, initiated by a special committee of the Foundation Board, recognizes a current or past member of the board who has demonstrated leadership, advocacy and support on behalf of the college and its students. Past recipients include Dennis Stacy of Northfield; Diane T. McKoy of Mays Landing; Robert Mullock of Cape May; Charles Pessagno of Galloway; and James Cooper, Esq., of Margate, President Emeritus of the Foundation.
Atlantic Cape established the Foundation in 1978 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity to build a broad base of financial support for its programs and services. Foundation members are drawn from local industry and small businesses and represent a broad cross-section of active leaders in the community. The Foundation has raised more than $3 million for scholarships, Foundation operations and to enhance academic programs and the campus environment. Annually, the Foundation provides nearly $300,000 for institutional scholarships, grants and emergency assistance.
