MAYS LANDING—Atlantic Cape Community College and Fairleigh Dickinson University signed a Scholars Program agreement May 26, providing dual admission and financial incentives to students who wish to begin their education at Atlantic Cape and transfer to FDU with an associate degree.
The Atlantic Cape-FDU Scholars Program is available for first-time college students who complete an Intent to Enroll prior to completing 30 credits at Atlantic Cape.
Admission to FDU would be contingent upon: successful completion of an A.A., A.S., or A.A.S. degree at Atlantic Cape, completing an application for admission, and meeting all admissions standards at FDU.
Students who enroll in the program will be eligible for a 40 percent reduction in FDU tuition. Students who are members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Atlantic Cape will receive an $18,000 scholarship to attend FDU. Other financial incentives include an annual $1,000 merit scholarship for students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and a $2,500 scholarship for students who qualify for NJ STARS II.
“Atlantic Cape is excited about the opportunity to expand our partnership with Fairleigh Dickinson University and provide local residents another cost-effective pathway to a baccalaureate degree,” said Dr. Peter L. Mora, Atlantic Cape president. “Developing partnerships like this will make our community stronger and lead to more highly skilled graduates to support our local workforce.”
FDU offers a bachelor’s degree in Individualized Studies with specializations in Business & Technology, Hospitality Management and Health & Human Services Administration, as well as a master’s of Hospitality Management Studies, at Atlantic Cape’s Mays Landing Campus. Students who opt to enroll in programs at FDU’s Metropolitan or Florham campuses will receive a $1,500 annual housing grant through the Scholars Program.
The agreement is for a term of five years and would be reviewed, with extensions presumed to be approved
“Access to affordable education is so critical today, and now Atlantic Cape students will have more opportunities to achieve their academic goals,” said FDU President Sheldon Drucker. “Our goal is to make a quality, private education affordable throughout New Jersey and we look forward to graduating the next class of Atlantic Cape students.”
