MAYS LANDING — The Atlantic Cape Community College Board of Trustees named Andre Richburg of Mays Landing dean, enrollment management and college relations, at its Jan. 28 meeting at the Mays Landing Campus. Richburg had served as the college’s director or recruitment and admissions since Aug.
Richburg brings experience in recruitment and admissions from several New Jersey colleges, including Centenary College, Brookdale Community College, Monmouth University and Caldwell College. He holds a master’s of education from Monmouth University and a bachelor’s of science in business administration from William Paterson University.
In his new position, he will serve as the chief enrollment management officer, providing strategic and operational leadership, as well as oversight to all enrollment management functions for credit and noncredit instruction, including recruitment, admissions, financial aid, testing and college relations.
In Personnel Action, The Board:
–Appointed Richard Russell of Ocean City temporary assistant professor of English, effective Jan. 21.
–Appointed Alejandra Sulpizio of Wildwood Crest temporary senior manager, grants, effective Jan. 29.
–Appointed Gracellen Thorstensen of Vineland office assistant, planning, research and facilities, effective Jan. 29.
–Accepted the resignation of Kristi Bergman, assistant professor, English as a Second Language, effective Jan. 8.
–Accepted the resignation of Matthew Neugent, clerk, perishable storeroom, effective Jan. 28.
–Approved the retirement of Horace Ross of Mays Landing, effective Jan. 31. Ross served the college for more than 14 years on the housekeeping staff and received numerous perfect attendance awards and accolades for assistance is setting up for major college events, including commencement.
Approval of Annual Financial Report:
The board accepted the FY’13 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, following a report from Fred Caltabiano of Bowman & Company LLP of Voorhees, the college’s audit firm.
Caltabiano reviewed highlights of the report, noting his firm had issued “an unmodified or ‘clean’ opinion for the college.” He said they identified “no significant deficiencies or material weaknesses” and reported the college’s financial position “remains sound.”
Treasurer Maria Mento and Chairperson David Evans thanked Cathie Skinner, dean of finance, and members of her team. Skinner noted her appreciation to the board and cited the dedication of the finance department staff and the entire college community.
Award of Bids:
–Software license, Microsoft Campus, to SHI International of Somerset, $33,522.
–Fuel oil, through a state contract with Pedroni Fuel Oil of Vineland, $26,000.
–TV broadcasting equipment to Adorama of New York, NY, $26,079.
–Web hosting outsourcing, two-year contract, to 30R Networks of Bridgeton, $45,000.
In Other Business, the Board:
–Approved the Dec. 31, 2013, financial statement.
–Approved the transfer of $255,737 from the FY’13 year-end unrestricted fund balance to the Facilities Fee Plant Fund accounts in FY’14 designated for those repair and renewal projects funded by Student Facilities Fee not yet completed as of June 30, 2013.
–Amended board bylaws to grant voting power to the alumni member to be applicable to the alumni trustee that is elected by the graduating class of 2014.
The move recognizes a need for the voice of Atlantic Cape students to be heard at the trustee level. Currently the alumni representative engages in board discussion and is a member of standing committees but does not have formal voting authority. The alumni representative is elected by the immediate graduating class for a one-year term.
–Approved Maria Mento of Ventnor as board treasurer.
