MAYS LANDING — Sean Fischer of Buena Vista Township has been named executive director of the Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation and dean of resource development & president/board of trustees operations, to helm the college’s fundraising initiatives. The college recently completed its first capital campaign, raising more than $3.65 million for scholarships and furnishings for the new Science, Technology, Engineering and Math building.
“Mr. Fischer has been intimately involved in the college’s development efforts since joining the staff. I am confident he will continue to represent Atlantic Cape well in this new position, and provide steady, competent leadership,” Dr. Peter L. Mora, president, said.
Fischer joined the college’s resource development office in 2005, and most recently served as chief of staff to the president. He assumed the new responsibilities Jan. 1.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Rowan University, and a master’s degree in Political Science from Villanova University. He is pursuing a Doctor of Education at Creighton University.
In addition to organizing Create Opportunity: The Capital & Scholarship Campaign for Atlantic Cape Community College, the Foundation spearheads the annual Restaurant Gala fundraiser and Scramble “Fore” Scholarships golf tournament.
“We are thrilled to work with Sean as our new executive director,” said Diane T. McKoy, president of the Foundation Board of Trustees. “He has excellent working relationships with our board, and we know he will work hard to support the students of Atlantic Cape Community College”
Atlantic Cape established the Foundation in 1978 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity to build a broad base of financial support for its programs and services. Foundation members are drawn from local industry and small businesses and represent a cross-section of active leaders in the community. Annually, the Foundation provides nearly $200,000 for institutional scholarships, grants and emergency help.
