Atlantic Cape Announces First Major Gifts Campaign

MAYS LANDING — The Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation, in collaboration with the college, will launch the public phase of the first major gifts campaign in the college’s history on Tues., Sept. 13.
“Create Opportunity – The Capital & Scholarship Campaign for Atlantic Cape Community College” has been quietly gaining momentum and raising funds in support of endowed scholarships and the purchase of furnishings and equipment for the new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) facility to be built on the Mays Landing campus.
The Capital & Scholarship Campaign will create opportunity by:
Providing students with the college-based financial assistance they need to enter higher education and pursue their dreams of a college degree; and
Preparing students to compete for jobs in fields such as healthcare and technology with training on state-of-the-art scientific equipment in new laboratory facilities.
“Atlantic Cape Community College is a valuable community asset that creates opportunity by providing access to superior educational programs,” said Dr. Peter L. Mora, president. “As we move forward, we understand the need to rely less on traditional sources of public funding, and make our case that we are an entity worthy of philanthropic support. The Capital & Scholarship Campaign does just that and will allow us to fulfill our legacy of truly serving as the community’s college,” he added.

Atlantic Cape established the Foundation in 1978 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity to build a broad base of financial support for its programs and services. Foundation members are drawn from local industry and small businesses and represent a broad cross-section of active leaders in the community. The Foundation has raised more than $2 million for scholarships, Foundation operations and to enhance academic programs and the campus environment.
