NORTH CAPE MAY – Today, American Cancer Society representatives Kirby Reed, Community Manager, Relay for Life, and Jason Plaia, Senior Market Manager for Community Engagement, recognized the Delaware River and Bay Authority for its new tobacco-free, smoke-free policy at its facilities in New Jersey and Delaware. The recognition ceremony took place inside the Cape May passenger ferry terminal of the Cape May–Lewes Ferry.
The Authority’s new policy, which went into effect on Jan. 1, 2017, prohibits smoking and tobacco use at agency property (inside and outside) and applies to all agency employees, visitors, customers, patrons, contractors and vendors. Under the policy, smoking or use of tobacco products, objects or devices including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, electronic cigars or smokeless tobacco products will be prohibited on Authority property. This policy covers terminal buildings, administrative facilities, ferry vessels or anywhere on the campus such as parking lots, sidewalks or other outdoor venues.
