The Cape May County Technical School offers several career training opportunities for adults. Post Secondary license preparation programs for Cosmetology, Dental Assisting and Practical Nursing are offered as well as several other program options. All programs are 10 or 11 months in duration and scheduled to start in September 2014 with the exception of the Practical Nursing Program which is scheduled to start in July 2014.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required and potential candidates are also required to achieve a passing score on a pre-entrance test. Interested individuals are encouraged to register for the pre-entrance test as soon as possible as seats are limited.
Pre-entrance test registrations are now being accepted. Test dates vary by program but open test dates are available for all programs in February. The TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) is the pre-entrance exam required for all programs with the exception of Practical Nursing which requires the TEAS V (Test of Essential Academic Skills). The test fee for the TABE is $15.00 and the test fee for the TEAS V is $50.00. Candidates who pass the pre-entrance test will be scheduled for an interview/orientation meeting to review program registration procedures.
Potential candidates, particularly if currently unemployed or underemployed, may also be eligible for tuition assistance, up to $5000.00, through the Cape-Atlantic One Stop. The process to determine eligibility takes at least 10 weeks and interested individuals are also encouraged to start this process as soon as possible.
