STONE HARBOR — The 33rd annual Stone Harbor Merchants’ Day Sidewalk Sale, held Aug. 25, drew large crowds, as the event has always done.
This year’s event, hosted by the Stone Harbor Chamber of Commerce, was held on what was reportedly one of the season’s hottest days, but bargain-hunting shoppers didn’t seem to mind as they went from rack to rack and table to table, seeking just the right-priced item.
The end-of-summer ritual is always held on the last full weekend prior to the Labor Day Weekend, and it is the only day when merchants are permitted to display merchandise outdoors.
Over 50 retailers took part in the event, the majority located in the business hub of 96th Street and adjacent blocks both north and south on Second and Third avenues.
