Building Healthy Kids Coalition Meeting August 18

COURT HOUSE – Rutgers Cooperative Extension’s Family and Community Health Sciences Department will host a Building Healthy Kids Coalition Breakfast Meeting entitled “Introducing Choose My Plate.gov.” This meeting will be a presentation and discussion of the new USDA symbol “Choose My Plate” representing the dietary guidelines recently issued for maximum nutrition and health. We will sample local farm grown produce in a variety of recipes while learning the new guidelines for the healthy plate of America. The program is scheduled for Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 9:30am at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Meeting Room, 355 Court House-So Dennis Road Cape May Court House, NJ.

The Coalition is a committee of professionals interested in the health and wellbeing of children. The initiative focuses on combating childhood obesity by promoting school wellness, strengthening families and improving the health of the community. Learn about nutritious food suggestions and program updates of the Get Moving-Get Healthy New Jersey initiatives. Plan to participate; input is needed to help translate these important messages to the community. The building is handicap accessible.
