Boy Scout’s Eagle Project Makes Parking Lot for VFW

By

BELLEPLAIN – Chris Bailey recently completed his Eagle Scout project in Troop 76.
Bailey, 15, attends Ocean City High School. He became a Boy Scout at age 11, but joined Cub Scouts when he was 6.
“When I was young, I saw my dad’s accomplishments from when he was a Boy Scout and made Eagle. This inspired me to join scouts and become an Eagle Scout myself,” stated Bailey.
“Before my project, the Belleplain Veterans of Foreign Wars Petrella, Repici, Caprioni, Champion Post 6257, only had a dirt and grass patch that they used as a parking lot. It was brought to my attention by John Mazurie and Rob Day that the VFW was in need of a parking lot,” Bailey continued.
“For my Eagle Scout project, I put in a parking lot using crushed concrete with split rail fencing and, in addition, installed a flagpole at the VFW post.
“I want to say thank you to all the boys and parents from Troop 76 that helped me complete my project, including Scoutmaster Mike Jargowski. I would like to thank Dave Glassford for donating time on my project.
“Also, I would like to thank Tom Caprioni for donating the heavy machinery and manpower to spread the crushed concrete. I also would like to thank all of the sponsors of the project. They included Daley’s Pit for donating the crushed concrete and trucks to deliver it, and Mayor Martin Pagliughi from the Borough of Avalon for donating the split rail fencing.
“I would like to thank Past Commander Harry L. Creamer Sr., who recently passed away, for approving my project at the VFW. Finally, I want to thank the members of the VFW for their cooperation with the project. It was a great success, and a great addition to the VFW.
“It couldn’t have been completed without the help, support and cooperation from all of those who participated in the project. Thank you for helping me complete my journey to Eagle Scout,” Bailey added.
