COURT HOUSE — The Catholic Daughters awarded Samantha Marks of Seaville second place at the state level in their annual education contest. Samantha, a seventh grade student at Bishop McHugh Regional Catholic School, submitted a drawing on the theme: “We are stewards of God’s creation. How do we care for the environment?” Her drawing won first place in the school division for the Catholic Daughters of Court, Our Lady of Mercy (St. Joseph’s Parish), and advanced to the state level where it took second place. The Catholic Daughters visited the school to personally present the award.
In addition to Marks’ award, a former Bishop McHugh Student, Jamie Butler (class of 2016), won first place at the state level for his essay. The Catholic Daughters’ annual education contest accepts entries in art, poetry, essays, computer art, music and photography.
