Belleplain VFW 6257 Premieres New Web Page

By Press Release

BELLEPLAIN – Township Committeeman Frank Germanio invites the public to view the brand new web page for the Belleplain VFW Post 6257. The web page is linked to the Township website www.dennistwp.org. Germanio gathered the information and took the photos for the new web page; Tom Laughlin of Power of Production Studios donated his time to create the page, which highlights VFW Post 6257’s history and will announce events and other items of interest.
Committeeman Germanio, who was born and raised in Belleplain and operates the family farm there along with his brother Ross, said the idea for the VFW page came about from discussions he had with VFW members, who expressed a desire to boost awareness of the VFW, as well as to increase membership and revenue.
“The VFW thanks Committeeman Frank Germanio for his tireless efforts to establish and create the VFW Post 6257 web page,” said Commander Harry Creamer. “The web page is dedicated to all the men and women who honorably served our country and reminds us to never forget the sacrifices that they made to preserve and protect our freedom.”
The web page explains the origin of the Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, which were formed 100 years ago, and specifically the formation of the Belleplain VFW Post 6257 after the small farming community lost several of its young men in action in World War II. It was 66 years ago this month that the Belleplain VFW Post 6257 officially was named the Petrella-Repici-Carprioni-Champion Post.
Committeeman Germanio stated: “As I was growing up, we often attended functions at the Belleplain VFW. It was a great place for many in the community to come together. Many of us have relatives that served in the military, fought in wars to protect our freedom, were part of establishing VFW Post 6257 and building the hall. I was honored when I was asked to help create a web page. The history that can now be found on the recently created page is quite humbling and moving. We must always remember that so many of our friends and neighbors made unimaginable sacrifices.”
