Beach Writers’ Conference Returns

The anticipation is mounting, but we’re not quite ready to announce the entire conference line-up this year.
We can tell you that it’s the most impressive since the first one in 2003. Writers accom-plished in a variety of genres—poetry, horror fiction, memoir writing, journalism, and screen-writing, as well as agents and publishers will make presentations at the two-day event, June 8-9 at the Wildwoods Convention Center, Wildwood, NJ.
A few of the 15 presen-tations scheduled are:
• Nancy Viau, author of the children’s book “Samantha Hansen Has Rocks in Her Head” (Amulet Books, 2008)
• Lorraine Ranalli, former Philadelphia radio personality and author of “Gravy Wars” discussing her style of energetic marketing including so-cial network technologies like Facebook and Twitter
• Jane Rubino and Caitlen Rubino-Bradway, co-authors of “Lady Vernon and her Daughter”
Special opportunities include:
• Charis Conn, novelist and edi-tor/journalist at Harper’s Magazine, will do a “cri-tique of first pages.”
• Or, you may submit your manuscript of up to 25 pages for a one-on-one expert evalua-tion.
• Third, why not enter the contests? Enter your essay or poem and compete for first, second, or third prize.
The Grand Prize is $700 towards publishing your work, offered by John Harnish of Infinity Publishing.
The two-day confer-ence also offers a lunch-eon where the speakers will chat informally with guests, a breakfast, an Ice Cream Social, a sit-down dinner, and a Book Bazaar.
The whole wonderful event is still only $75 (except for an additional, nominal fee for manuscript evaluation).
Deadline for registration is May 27. Deadline for first page critique, manuscript evaluation, and contest entries is May 8.
