Barnyard Buddies 4-H Club includes members in both the horse and livestock project areas. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month for our business and educational program. Our members hold officer positions where they gain leadership skills and self-development based on the pillars of character. We participate in 4-H county fundraisers and community service projects, as well as social activities. Many of our members show their animal projects in the 4-H Fair, as well as attend state and national events. Senior members in the club are encouraged to not only work on their goals, but to also mentor the younger members and help with their projects and goals.
4-H encourages its members to learn by doing, and we have certainly been doing. Our Cloverbud member, Rylan Wnek, has been learning about her rabbits and chickens as well as her horse. Tommy Germanio and Sarah Schuler will be showing their hogs this year. Rebecca Thompson remained for her 13th year and has come back from a successful college show season to compete with her horses. Amanda Schuler is a pro when it comes to rabbits. She will also be showing poultry. Sam Barry will be showing his hog and lamb as well as his steer that he has been raising for almost a year. Cody Hanek also stayed in 4-H for his 13th year to show a hog, a lamb and a goat. We hope to be doing what we love to do most, and that is to have a fun and successful fair, make friends, educate the public about our projects and meet the goals we set to make the best even better.
Come out to the fair, meet our members and ask questions. Better yet, get involved with us! We are always accepting new club members and we always appreciate new volunteers.
Cape May County – I’d like to suggest to the Herald that they leverage spout offs draw and replace some of the ads for their paper with a few paid ads that you probably can charge a little extra for. Lots of people…
