Avalon Library Announces May Programming

AVALON The Avalon Free Public Library will host the following events during the month of May.
Mondays, May 2, 9, 16 and 23
3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Knitting
Meet and share knitting techniques. All levels of knitters are welcome, from beginner to advanced level.
May 2 – 3
10 a.m. to noon
Art Workshop- Mosaic Watering Can
This is a two-day workshop held May 2 – 3. Create a unique decorative mosaic watering can with bits of opaque stained glass, tile, beads and other interesting materials. In Monday’s session, participants will adhere brightly colored bits in their choice of design onto a galvanized tin watering can. The glue requires 24 hours to dry. On Tuesday, participants will grout and finish the watering can. Several choices of grout color will be provided. Participants will be able to take their finished projects home at the end of the second session. The watering can is approximately 3-1/2″ tall x 6-1/2″ wide and holds water. A variety of materials will be provided to complete the project. All materials and instruction are included. Open to ages 18+. Registration is required.

Basket Weaving Workshop

Library Closed in Observance of Memorial Day
The Avalon Library received 5 stars in Library Journal’s national rating of public libraries, based on statistical performance data collected by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.  The Avalon Library has received the 5-Star designation eight times since 2009. The library is located at 235 32nd Street and provides free and open access to first class collections, services and programs that inspire, inform and enrich the community.
