AVALON – Several hundred residents and visitors attended Avalon’s 30th Annual National Night Out celebration held Aug. 6, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the parking lot north of Avalon Community Hall at 30th Street and the beach. The event was followed by a Big Beach Movie “Rise of the Guardians”.
Many local community and civic organizations participated in the event. Highlights included a photo booth, hot dogs and ice cream, bowling and golf games constructed by the Avalon Department of Public Works, various high wheel and rescue vehicles and demonstrations, and live music.
National Night Out in Avalon is presented annually by the Avalon Police Department and the Avalon Department of Recreation with generous support from the Avalon Volunteer Fire Department, Avalon Rescue Squad, and Avalon Department of Public Works. Support from the event came from many organizations throughout the Borough, including the Avalon Free Public Library and the Avalon Chamber of Commerce.
