Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage to Hold Law Day Celebrations

COURT HOUSE – The Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage will hold joint events with the Atlantic and Cape May County bar associations to celebrate the 57th annual observance of Law Day.  The courts will hold an outreach event May 2 at 8 a.m. at the Atlantic City Bus Terminal on Atlantic Avenue.  Staff from the courts and from county and social service agencies will answer questions and distribute information. The courts and the Atlantic County Bar Association will honor the 2016 mock trial team from Mainland Regional High School May 4 at 9 a.m. at the school on Oak Avenue in Linwood. Judges, bar association representatives and court staff will host a Law Day assembly for students at the school after the ceremony. The courts and the Cape May County Bar Association will honor the 2016 mock trial team from Middle Township High School on Friday, May 6 at 9 a.m. at the Cape May County Courthouse, 9 N. Main St., Cape May Court House. After the ceremony, students from the mock trial team will share their experiences with incoming high school students and encourage them to participate in the mock trial program. There also will be a law fair in the lobby of the courthouse from 10 a.m. until noon. Information tables will be staffed by attorneys, employees from county agencies and departments and court staff, Many activities included in the ongoing One Judge-One School program, including games and PowerPoint presentations, are focusing on the 2016 Law Day theme, “Miranda, More than Words.” The program matches a Superior Court judge, a staff member and a representative from the county bar association with each school. This year, 24 schools participated in the program.
