Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage Seeks Volunteers

COURT HOUSE – The Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage is seeking volunteers for four Superior Court programs, according to a release.
Child placement review board members are court-appointed, trained citizens who monitor the cases of children placed in foster care or residential placements by the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency to ensure that the placement serves the best interest of the child.
Juvenile conference committee board members are court-appointed, trained citizens who hear and decide matters involving alleged juvenile offenders. They make recommendations to a Family Court judge for a resolution that will help with the juvenile’s rehabilitation.
Guardianship monitoring volunteers are appointed and trained help ensure that guardians of incapacitated elderly residents and young adults comply with the statutory and court-ordered requirements of their positions.
Courthouse visitors’ assistance volunteers greet and direct litigants, attorneys, and visitors to their destinations. They also answer questions and provide assistance in person or by phone.
Prospective volunteers for the four programs must undergo a screening process, which includes a written application, interview, fingerprinting and a criminal background check. Selected volunteers must attend training.
