MAYS LANDING – Atlantic Cape Community College President Peter L. Mora will serve on the new Student Success Collaborative, an initiative to bring together leaders with statewide, national and international experience, to help identify and disseminate highly effective policies and strategies to enhance student success. The 16-person committee was appointed by Rochelle Hendricks, Secretary of Higher Education for the State of New Jersey, and convened Feb. 24.
The Student Success Collaborative will examine higher education institutions’ policies, programs and practices related to student safety and success. They will review multiple areas, including: advising and counseling; sexual harassment and assault; diversity and inclusion of students of different backgrounds (first generation, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, socioeconomic status, and different abilities); financial aid; health and safety; commuter and residential student life; and general campus climate.
Dr. Mora is one of two community college presidents on the committee. Atlantic Cape has launched its own student success initiatives during the last four years in an effort to assist more students in achieving their dream of a college degree. The success of Atlantic Cape’s Math Boot Camp initiative was referenced by Gov. Chris Christie in his State of the State address last month.
