MAYS LANDING – Atlantic Cape Community College will celebrate Black History Month, with various fun, educational activities throughout February. All activities are free and open to the public.
The Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike, will feature Vendor’s Bazaar, sponsored by the Black Student Alliance, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Tuesdays through Thursdays in February, beginning Feb. 9, in the hallway of J-Building. A diverse group of vendors will sell a wide variety of items, including some reflecting the African American culture. Additionally, The African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey will present a pictorial display, “Trials and Triumphs; The Journey of a People,” 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Feb. 16, in Cafeteria B. The ZuZu African Acrobats, as seen on “America’s Got Talent,” will perform their dynamic and exciting stunts, 7 p.m., Feb. 18, in the Walter Edge Theater. “Young Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement,” presented by Key Arts Productions, will provide insight into the legacy of student activism and inspire all ages to lead in today’s challenge for social reform, 12:30 p.m., Feb. 24, also in the Walter Edge Theater. The events are co-sponsored by the Student Government Association, Black Student Alliance and Student Activities. The Cape May County Campus, 341 Court House-South Dennis Road, will host “Deep Roots…Forever Remembered,” a performance celebrating Black History Month with stories and songs, 11 a.m., Feb. 16. After the performance, “History of Soul Food” will be held noon in the Cafeteria and include light appetizers followed by a poetry slam.
