NORTH CAPE MAY — Residents of Victoria Manor Nursing Home love to give back to the community. All year the residents help with different organizations in the Cape May area. During the fall and holidays, the residents created art and then sold cards to benefit the homeless in the county. They were able to raise $500.
This winter and spring the residents have been working on animal art. They wanted to help the groups in the area who show love to our stray or unwanted animals and find them forever homes.
The art show, held May 13, 2–4 p.m. at the Nursing Home, was a success with Steve from NJ Nature bringing a variety of animals for all residents to experience. The original resident animal art for sale, refreshments and animals from the different organizations in the area; Animal Outreach, The CM Animal Shelter, Animal ! Alliance and New Jersey Nature. There will also be greeting cards of the art for sale, $5 for 3 cards.
Paige Cunningham, who leads the art program at the Manor said the residents are very proud of their work and can’t wait to help others. Creating the art not only helps with small motor skills and brain cognition but gives them a sense of expression and feeling a part of the community. These residents are alive with a sense of joy and fun and wealth of knowledge. It is such a pleasure to be able to join them in creating and be a part of their lives. They enrich mine every day. Everyone had a very exciting day!
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
