Sen. Bob Andrzejczak, Assemblyman Bruce Land, and Assemblyman Matt Milam (all D-1st) reminded residents Oct. 10 to sign up for New Jersey’s Senior Property Tax Freeze program.
The legislators had won an expansion and new funding for the program during the past legislative session, and mark it as one of Team South Jersey’s signature accomplishments for the year.
“I was born in Cape May. I grew up here, and I want to retire here, but there are a lot of families like mine that can’t afford to do that,” stated Andrzejczak. “Taxes, especially property taxes, are far too high. That’s why Matt, Bruce, and I are doing everything we can to help make South Jersey more affordable.”
Andrzejczak is a medically retired Army sergeant, who lost his left leg during an attack on his convoy in Iraq. He, along with Land and Milam, worked to lower property taxes in the 2019 legislative session. They also doubled the veteran income tax deduction to $6,000, cut the shore rental tax, and fought against Gov. Murphy to get funding to repair the Wildwoods Boardwalk.
Those interested in signing up for the property tax freeze must be 65 years or over, or actively receiving federal Social Security disability benefit payments. They need to have lived in New Jersey continuously since Dec. 31, 2007, or earlier, and must have owned and lived in their home or mobile home since December 2014.
Combined income limits, if married, must have been less than or equal to $87,268 in 2017, and $89,013 in 2019.

“This is a great program that’s going to help a lot of people. I’d encourage anyone who is eligible to apply,” stated Land.
