By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – The Vincent J. Apruzzese Mock Trial Competition is underway in Cape May County.
Throughout several days in January, students from across Cape May County will take part in the annual Vincent J. Apruzzese Mock Trial Competition. They will play the part of  witnesses and attorneys on both sides of a civil case.
The New Jersey State Bar Foundation runs the statewide competition with the help of county Bar Associations throughout the state.
According to a release, the Cape May County Bar Association organizes the event yearly at the Cape May County Superior Court.
The problem these students will tackle this year concerns injuries sustained by the plaintiff, Avery Mansion, on a rollercoaster run by the defendant, Captain Kidds Pier.
Participating high schools include:
Lower Cape May Regional, coached by Thomas Higgins and Barbara Bakeley-Marino.
Middle Township, coached by Kim Moore and Louis DeLollis.
Cape May Tech, coached by Matt Pleasants and Brian McEwing.
Wildwood Catholic, coached by Mary Kane and Chris Gillin-Schwartz.
The event is coordinated by local attorneys, Brett Yore, Ed Simonson, and Steven Morris.
The winners will be decided by February and advance to regional finals held at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick.
The competition is only open to friends and family of the participants.
